چکیده
Natural hazards such as large debris flow events can have catastrophic effects on the environment and critical infrastructure, posing a significant threat to human life. Debris flows often exhibit high velocity, high-pressure discharges due their bulk volume, capacity transport considerable volumes of rocks, boulders, woody debris. Although run-out simulations are commonly performed using hydraulic modelling software, these environments seldom capable assessing interaction between fluid, transported material, protective structures. In this research, deformation numerical models calibrated input parameters from software. Due computational cost involving fluid-solid-structure simulation with flexible net barriers, an equivalent stiffness method is implemented provide comparable performance through membrane structure. The Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian Finite Element used model impact forces rocky boulders membrane, exhibiting damage characteristics consistent ring-net results highlight simplified shown benchmark boulders.

Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) Modeling of Material Flow in Dissimilar Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Alloys
In this work, the finite element simulation of dissimilar friction stir welding process is investigated. The welded materials are AA 6061-T6 and AA 7075-T6 aluminum alloys. For this purpose, a 3D coupled thermo-mechanical finite element model is developed according to the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method. The CEL method has the advantages of both Lagrangian and Eulerian approaches, whic...
متن کاملGPU acceleration of Eulerian–Lagrangian particle-laden turbulent flow simulations
Acceleration of an existing MPI-based, particle-laden turbulent flow simulation code is achieved using up to four NVIDIA GPU devices. The overall design is to transfer the entire flow velocity, temperature, and humidity fields to each device, and compute particle trajectories entirely on the GPU hardware. For one-way coupled turbulent flow simulations, accurate simulations can be achieved for l...
متن کاملHardware-Accelerated Lagrangian-Eulerian Texture Advection for 2D Flow Visualization
A hardware-based approach for visualizing unsteady flow fields by means of Lagrangian-Eulerian advection is presented. Both noise-based and dyebased texture advection is supported. The implementation allows the advection of each texture to be performed completely on the graphics hardware in a single-pass rendering. We discuss experiences with the interactive visualization of unsteady flow field...
متن کاملMeasuring Complexity in Lagrangian and Eulerian Flow Descriptions
Automatic detection of relevant structures in scientific data sets is still one of the big challenges in visualization. Techniques based on information theory have shown to be a promising direction to automatically highlight interesting subsets of a time-dependent data set. The methods that have been proposed so far, however, were restricted to the Eulerian view. In the Eulerian description of ...
متن کاملA Local Streamline Eulerian-Lagrangian Method for Two-Phase Flow
A method for solving the saturation equation for two-phase ow is presented. The method may be viewed as an operator splitting method or as an Eulerian-Lagrangian backtracking procedure or as a modiied method of characteristics. For each time step, the method consists of an advection step and a diiusion step. The advection step requires the tracking of streamlines locally around certain integrat...
